No. Sound.
None of the videos i took produced sound.
I switched out the SD mini with one in my phone. No Sound. Tinkered with the sound settings on my PC. No Sound. Popped the SD Mini in the card adapter and plugged that into the reader. No Sound.
Of course, wouldnt you know it, tech support for Polaroid is closed already.
Right now until i hear back from Polaroid, the Cube is getting a crappy review. Am willing to swap it out and give it another chance, thinking the one i received is defective, but am pretty bummed that the one i received isnt working. Hopefully Polaroid tech support responds to my email and gets back to me with a solution. I also saw that someone had the same issue as me on the Cube FB page.
:(
EDIT:
Got some input from other reviewers that WMP doesnt work with the CUBE. So i went with their suggestions of trying to play my videos with Quiktime.
It works!
Ive bumped up the review to 5 stars. I do dig the camera and I feel a lot better knowing it was something small that corrected the issue. Thanks for the suggestions!
I also received my 32 GB mini so am ready to load up the boys on the bike trailer and get some footage.
2) In 1080p, the camera will ONLY record 5 minute's video. Then it will start a new video file. Thus video splicing will be a must. The time lag between the videos, will mean: lost video. ie. a space in your recording time.
3) 360 cameras (panoramic view -> 360o degrees of where the camera is placed), have hugely come down in price. So you Really check those out on Amazon before buying ANY action camera, because they have become completely obsolete. The camera is nice and has good features and makes good videos. But again, this camera is Completely Obsolete. Don't waste your money. The problems of video editing .MOV files will make you pull hair out of your head. Good Luck! Look for a camera that will record in mp4 or is compatible to youtube (.wmv) Polaroid did make an "app" for video editing on your phone, but they no longer support it on their website. You have to find it on a third party website like softonic. This camera is just not worth the headaches.
I drove to and from work with the magnet holding it on my truck with no problems. Great footage.
I put it on top of the truck pulling the float in the parade. Great footage.
I put it in the waterproof housing and played with it in the pool. Great footage.
I put it on a tabletop tripod at the edge of the stage during auditions for a community theater show. Great footage.
I put it on a tall stand in the studio for an establishing shot during an interview. Not great. In fact, not even good. totally unusable.
To sum it up, it isn't a GoPro, but it is a lot of fun! In my opinion, I like this for a regular, everyday, fun, lifestyle documenting camera. In fact, in some cases, it would be better than a GoPro, and a heckuva lot cheaper.
Obviously, the GoPro is superior in this category. It is also three times the price. I am not that hardcore into any sporting activity that I could justify that kind of money, so I decided to try this. I got the Polaroid Cube in the mail today, so this review is my opinion based on 3-4 hours of playing with it and using it in various settings. I plan on updating my review in a few weeks or months when I have had more time to work with it.
These are the things I noticed right off the bat from the videos and photos I took:
THE GOOD
* I would compare it's quality to that of a nicer cell phone (think Galaxy s5 or an iphone 5 or higher). It is good, and in some cases VERY good. It also has the possibility of being bad (and in some cases very bad). Sunny day, outside, the video and photo quality is fantastic. The colors are vibrant and it picks up on everything. In low light, you have a bit of graininess. If you are trying to take a photo of a fast moving target like a kid or a pet, it's likely going to come out blurry. This seemed to be the case in my initial photos. There is a small lag in the photo taking and this might have something to do with it.
*The audio picks up pretty well. I could understand myself clearly and it even picked up whispering somewhat close by.
* It is SMALL, very lightweight, and cute to boot. I feel if you didn't care about the esthetics of the product, you might be buying a different camera. Clearly it's design is cute and somewhat alluring.
* The magnet stuck to the car and we were able to get a video going 35-45 miles per hour. I was freaking out the whole time, but it really didn't budge.
The indicators and buttons are fool proof. It is so easy to use and understand that pretty much anyone could use it. If you want a tiny camera for those of you who don't fancy themselves tech savvy, this might be the camera for you.
* It's price is great for this category! GoPro's really do monopolize this market and they are a good 200-300 dollars more. For some, this isn't feasible.
*Turns itself off after a few minutes of inactivity so it conserves it's own battery life. Since this battery life is stated at 90 minutes, I'm grateful for this feature when I wouldn't normally think to turn my camera off.
The NOT SO GOOD
* Slow charge rate. For 90 minutes of battery it takes 3-4 hours to charge. Not horrible, but also not great.
* The plate on the back you need to twist off with a coin to access the charging port and SD card slot. I couldn't get this off with my finger which means you need a coin to access it. If you don't have a coin then good luck looking around the house till you find that object that will fit perfectly.
* For some, the lack of viewfinder or screen will be a bit frustrating. I didn't mind it, but I also did aim a bit too high in some videos and need to learn to point it downward a bit more.
* The fish eye in an indoor setting was MUCH more noticeable than outside. Going through doorways and in and out of rooms the house looked very funny. Some getting used to is in order. I didn't really notice this at all outside so it's the close quarters making this much more obvious.
This camera will be GREAT for water parks, days at the beach, fun events with friends and family where you'd love to get some video, but don't want to go through the hassle of carrying around a large and heavy device. I purchased the lanyard along with this and I love the idea that I can just wear it around my neck until I want to use it. So lightweight and functional in that way. Important to note, the camera is water resistant BUT NOT WATERPROOF. You need to purchase the additional waterproof housing in order to swim, snorkel, and do any other water activity with it. You can buy the waterproof housing for 25 on amazon.
All in all, currently happy with my purchase and cannot wait to use it more in the days to come!

Edit: I returned this product and surprisingly the price of the product is now showing as 7+ thousand as opposed to 4000 that I purchased at
I use two of them when motorbiking - one on the bike, one on my crash helmet. The one on the bike is connected to the bike's power (it is three years old now, and doesn't charge any more), so no battery worries, the newer one on my lid gets charged each time I use it.
The video quality for me is gopro level. sharp, good colour, works reasonably well in low light, easily good enough as a dashcam type device.
Being so small, you can tape them to almost anything, and the magnet is powerful enough to stick to the bonnet of a moving car.
Downsides - you need a computer or playback device to get the video off of it. There is no way to view it otherwise, and it can't work as a webcam, i.e. live video.
For £30, no brainer.
